After they cleaned themselves up quietly, they went back to business mode. Idris finished signing the long forgotten papers. Monica went to send them off. By the time the close of business got there both were super tired and could only think about sleep. Monica began to pack up her belongings to head out for the day. The weird tension filled silence that hung around their office like a gray cloud in the sky was beginning to suffocate her.

“Mr. King I’m about to leave. Do you need anything else before I go?”

“No thank you. I’m heading out as well.” Idris was getting his things together to leave as well.

“Oh well, I will see you in the morning.”

“How about you work from home tomorrow? And before you get started on the special privileges spill again. I think I will work from home because I have some pack work to get done. Just have the calls transferred to your cell. I will be at the pack house working on things around there if you need me for anything.”

“Oh alright.” Monica replied sadly. It felt like he was avoiding being around her in tight spaces to her but she could be misreading things.

“Now that that is settled. I’ll walk you out.”

“Alright. Thanks.” Monica noticed that some of the other workers were giving her stink-face looks as they crowded on the elevator. The vibe coming from them wasn’t friendly at all. For minute she almost cared but then she remembered they never liked her anyway.

Monica worked from home as planned by Idris. Quite a few things came up that she needed to address with him but she wasn’t going to take it to the house until she was sure that would be all for the time being. The sleep the night before wasn’t the best but she got enough to function. Working from home turned out to be the best thing since sliced bread. She got to sleep in a little bit longer, plus she didn’t have to get super dressed up. It worked out for her. Maybe she should suggest getting at least a day to work from home out of every week. Gathering all the things she needed to take to Idris, she prepared to take the drive. Hoping and praying her hormones stayed intact not needing a repeat of their office rump. Although it felt amazing, she didn’t want to do it there where anyone and everyone would figure out what they were up to. Schooling her senses she proceeded into the mansion like house in route to the office in the back. Stopping short when she heard shouts, growls, and a very heated discussion. ‘What was going on in there?’

****

I chose to go to the pack house office going over some pack business that required my attention. Not being able to pry myself away the main office because I couldn’t stand to be away from Monica. It’s like I was afraid she would tip with the next available male, wolf or human, if I wasn’t around to be a buffer.
